Dietary and drug interactions

Interaction between dietary and certain drugs when consume together are as follow:
  • Milk, dairy products, or iron-containing vitamins with tetracycline will diminish tetracycline effect.

  • Alcohol with antihistamines, results in depression

  • Alcohol with Benzodiazepines (Librium, Valium), will enhance  sedation, increase respiratory depression

  • Alcohol with propoxyphene (Darvon) caused CNS and respiratory depression

  • Alcohol with salicylates, results in gastrointestinal bleeding
