Drug interaction is a response resulting, either desirable or undesirable, of drugs acting with themselves or other drugs, chemical agents or components of the diet.

Dietary and drug interactions
Interaction between dietary and certain drugs when consume together are as follow:
- Milk, dairy products, or iron-containing vitamins with tetracycline will diminish tetracycline effect.
- Alcohol with antihistamines, results in depression
- Alcohol with Benzodiazepines (Librium, Valium), will enhance sedation, increase respiratory depression
- Alcohol with propoxyphene (Darvon) caused CNS and respiratory depression
- Alcohol with salicylates, results in gastrointestinal bleeding
